A miracle unfolded in the heart of Jaipur, confirming our faith in medical science, teamwork, and, above all, the unwavering human soul.

At Sawai Mansingh  Hospital, under the extraordinary leadership of Dr. Aakansha Vashistha, the hand of a 6-year-old boy was successfully replanted after a painful accident. This was followed by a six-hour-long surgery, which brought back a destroyed family from the verge of devastation—and gave India another moment of pride in its healthcare heroes.

The Incident: The Story of Little Champ

The miracle began in a quiet village near Alwar, where this young champ was helping in the agricultural work. In a flash of the tragedy, a grass-cutting machine chopped his hand from just above the wrist—an injury that would also make the bravest adult fearful.

But what happened next was nothing short of life-saving urgency.

His family, thinking fast and praying hard, cautiously preserved  the severed hand, wrapped it in a polybag and kept it in an ice box  and reached to the SMS hospital trauma centre at Jaipur, desperate for a miracle.

And they found one.

Meet the miracle worker: Dr. Aakansha Vashistha.

Dr. Vashistha handled Jaspreet’s transfer to the trauma unit under plastic surgery with utmost care. Dr. Aakansha, specializing in microvascular surgery with a special focus on paediatric trauma, understood the urgency of the situation. Without any hesitation, she rallied a team and began preparations for delicate reimplantation surgery, where every  second—mattered.

  2. Dr. Ghazala Praveen
  3. Dr. Prem Panchal

It was more than just a surgery—it was a coordinated effort of calm precision and empathy under pressure. It ended not just there . The team worked hard day in and out for two weeks until the boy was fit for discharge ,monitoring vitals , looking out for swelling and infection and creating optimum condition for the patient and the reimplanted hand to survive.

A word from Dr. Aakansha Vashistha

“Everything else matters in such cases. We were running against time to restore blood flow and work. The boy has responded well, and with continuous physiotherapy over the next 4-6 months, we are optimistic about complete recovery.”

Their words reflect technical expertise and demonstrate profound compassion—qualities that truly define exceptional therapists.
