What is laser hair reduction?

Laser hair reduction is a non-invasive procedure which uses lasers to target unwanted hair growth on the body.

How does this treatment work? how many sessions are needed?

    The laser targets the melanin pigment in the hair follicles which is present in the active growth phase and not all the hair are in this phase at a time hence multiple sessions are needed .The number of sessions and gap between the sessions is decided on the basis of area to be targeted.

    Who are good candidates for laser hair removal?

    • People with unwanted body hair more than 15 years of age
    • Females with hirsutism which is abnormal hair growth in women in areas such as face and chest.
    • People suffering from pilonidal sinus
    • People suffering from ingrown hair 

    How should avoid laser hair removal treatment?

    Laser hair removal is contraindicated in

    • People with photosensitive disorders like SLE
    • People with active skin infections
    • People with unrealistic expectations.

    Is laser hair reduction safe?

      If done by a qualified professional, LHR is absolutely safe.

      What areas can be treated by laser hair reduction?

      Commonly treated areas include the face, underarms , bikini areas  and upper and lower limbs.

      Is the procedure painful?

      You might feel a mild discomfort but the procedure is not painful.

      What precautions should I take before the procedure?

      • You should avoid waxing, threading, plucking and bleaching the hair approx. 3 weeks before the procedure and between the sessions.
      • You should avoid use of hair removal creams
      • In cases of hair growth between the sessions hair shaving can be done.
      • You should disclose your entire medical history along with all the medications you are on  to your doctor before the treatment.

      What should I expect after treatment?
      you may experience mild redness or slight burning sensation after the procedure which is temporary.

      How long do the results last?
      There is a significant reduction in hair growth and you will need maintenance sessions for lasting results
