PROCEDURE : SURGICAL
What is a reimplantation procedure?
A procedure to surgically reattach an amputated body part, such as a finger, hand, arm, or toe to the body is called a reimplantation procedure. It involves restoring blood flow and function to the amputated part by reconnecting severed bones, tendons, nerves, and blood vessels.
How long does the procedure typically take and what is the recovery time?
The duration of the surgery depends on the complexity of the procedure which depends on the part of the body which is to be reimplanted and the level of amputation.
Typically, it can take anywhere between 6 to 12 hours.
Recovery generally takes several months and involves intense physiotherapy in order to regain maximum function.
